The Leica DigiCat 750i Utility Service Cable Locator 821251 makes it easy to keep an eye on your utility locator. With its integrated GPS technology and 64 MB memory, this pipe and cable locator keeps a record of location and usage data, so you'll have user information at your fingertips. Use the Bluetooth connectivity and Logicat software (sold separately) to download the location data to your phone, iPad, or computer, where it is displayed in clear, comprehensible map format.
The Digicat 750i takes advantage of Swiss engineering with a u-blox GPS chipset (L1 frequency, C/A code). It has a CEP (Circular Error Probability) of 8'2" (2.5m), going down to 6'7" (2.0m) when augmented with SBAS (Space Based Augmentation Systems). Of course, accuracy also depends on atmospheric conditions, multipath, obstructions, signal geometry and number of tracked satellites.
The GPS function is great if you have a fleet of utility locators to keep track of – all you have to do is download the information and update your map and you can see all activity at a glance. Now it's a cinch to cross-check employee reports and deploy your resources to best advantage. The Digicat 750i also records user IDs, so you'll be aware of which of your operators might need more training.
An Operating Mode for Each Purpose
This buried utility locator finds hidden pipes and cables by detecting the electrical signals they produce up to a depth of 10'. The default power mode locates power signals that pose a risk to your excavation site in a range of 50 to 60 Hz, so the most potentially dangerous utilities are located first. The auto mode automatically homes in on power and radio signals, alerting you to their presence when you first start work in a particular site. Radio mode uses signals from distant radio transmitters (between 15 and 60 kHz) to locate buried utilities. These frequencies penetrate the ground, when they are absorbed and re-emitted by buried utilities; making them visible to your Digicat. The transmitter mode tracks the signals from the Digitex signal generator, which runs a current through conductive utilities so they can be traced.
Reliable in Tough Conditions
The Leica Digicat 750i has an IP rating of 54 for locking out dust and moisture. A special hazard alert warns you when a buried utility is in close proximity to the surface. Enhanced sonde detection provides a numeric readout on the display indicating the exact location of a placed sonde, which helps trace electrical pipes or cables. The pinpoint assist feature keeps the highest peak reading on the display’s signal strength indicator for quick reference.
The Digicat locator gives off a loud sound when you are near the cable you're searching for. You can visually monitor the strength of the cable’s electrical signal on the large LCD display. This display also features a battery indicator, depth indicator, and light sensor. The light sensor senses the amount of light around your locator at all times and turns on the display’s back light in dark conditions.
Your Choice of Features
The Leica 750-model is available in the i-Series, with 2 transmitter mode frequencies (8 kHz and 33 kHz), and the xf-Series, with 4 transmitter mode frequencies (8 kHz, 33 kHz, 512 Hz and 640 Hz). The additional tracing modes allows you to locate underground utilities over greater distances and easily find sewer-camera inspection systems. The 750xf utility locator also has the Mode lock feature. The locator re-starts in the last mode used, saving you time and effort. The xf series lets you use Bluetooth to upload information about the location and direction of the detected utilities to a compatible GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping device (sold separately). You don't have to physically mark the location anymore, which can be useful when working indoors or in a developed area.
Digicat Accessories
To locate underground pipes or cables that do not have a live electrical current, use your Digicat with the Digitex 100t Signal Transmitter. The Digitex induces a signal into the pipe or cable via an alligator clamp, signal clamp, or antenna, then the Digicat detects this signal from the surface.
For pipes or cables made of a material other than metal, use the Digitex signal transmitter with the Digitrace Service Tracer (sold separately) to help your Digicat locate them. The Digitrace offers a fiberglass rod that can be guided along the utility underground while the connected Digitex signal generator sends a signal through the rod that the Digicat can detect from the surface. You can also use the Digimouse dual-frequency sonde. It acts as a frequency transmitter over a range of 16.4' (5 m) and can be attached to a variety equipment, such as drain rods, boring tools and inspection cameras.
