Elevating Tripods work great for special applications, or when GPS or robotic surveying instruments are being used due to the weight of the instrument, and they work really well for rotating laser levels. With an elevating or adjustable head, an elevating tripod (also known as an "elevator tripod") can raise or lower the head that is helpful in situations where you need a few extra inches of elevation and are not wanting to move or readjust your current setup. Many laser level users enjoy using an elevating tripod since the laser level line can be easily adjusted up or down to move a laser line closer or exactly on the work. Keep in mind that if you're having to carry the tripod and setup multiple times that they do weigh more than a regular tripod. If you're wanting a regular tripod thats not an elevating tripod, look at our "Surveying Tripods" category.
