The CI-110 Plant Canopy Imager captures wide-angle canopy images while estimating Leaf Area Index (LAI) and measuring Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) levels. Images live-update on the included tablet, providing instant data for verification and analysis with integrated software in the field under any daylight conditions. Obtain fast, accurate, non-destructive plant canopy measurements with this precision instrument. The complete package includes a high-resolution color fisheye camera lens, a touch screen handheld computer with built-in GPS, and a forearm mounting system for the computer. The fisheye lens (170° viewing angle), CCD camera, and auto-level gimbal are located on an image capturing probe. Simply hold the probe under a plant or forest canopy to see a live, high-resolution fisheye image. Once the image has been captured, the included software calculates the solar beam transmission coefficients using a user-defined number of zenith and azimuthal divisions. The user-selected number of zenith divisions (rings) and azimuthal divisions allows for investigation of any canopy sectors desired. In addition, the sun’s path can be easily plotted on an image. A gap-fraction inversion procedure is used to calculate Leaf Area Index of the canopy, diffuse radiation transmission coefficients, mean foliage inclination angles, and plant canopy extinction coefficients. The software also allows for automatic GPS data tagging, and the Automatic Image Logging stores unedited canopy images alongside calculated canopy data. Output data is displayed on the handheld computer screen and can be saved in multiple file formats. The imager has 24 PAR sensors to measure sun flecks in the range of Photosynthetic Active Radiation. One year manufacturer’s warranty.
